Yorktown Heights, New York · Westchester County
Opens Nov 28 usual opening — confirm for 2026
Usually opens November 28 — the farm hasn’t posted its 2026 dates yet, so confirm before you drive.
Wilkens is the farm New York City families drive an hour north for. It grows apples and peaches the rest of the year, then hands the hillside over to Fraser firs from Thanksgiving weekend on — cut-your-own out in the rows, pre-cut Frasers by the stand, and a red-barn market, bakery, and country shop to work through afterward.
The thing to know is opening weekend. Wilkens sells timed reservations by the tree — one booking, one tree, one car — and last season every slot went inside four days, waitlist included. From December 1 the reservation drops away entirely: walk in Wednesday through Monday, 10 to 3:30, closed Tuesdays.
Every tree comes with a free cup of hot cider, and the crew shakes, bales, and ties it to your roof. Bring rope if you have it.
The facts
- Cut-your-own Fraser firs and Douglas firs; pre-cut too
- Opening weekend is reservation-only and sells out; from December 1 on it's walk-in, Wed–Mon 10–3:30, closed Tuesdays. Fields shut at 4 — it's too dark to see a tree after that.
- Reservation required
- Also at the farm: farm market & bakery, wreaths & roping, free hot cider with every tree
- Opening day: November 28
