Sugar Pines Farm
Chesterland, Ohio · Geauga County
Opens Nov 27 usual opening — confirm for 2026
Usually opens the Friday after Thanksgiving (Nov 27) — the farm hasn’t posted its 2026 dates yet, so confirm before you drive.
Sugar Pines is the Cleveland tree trip — a hundred acres of Geauga County hillside in Chesterland, about 25 minutes east of the city. Cut-your-own runs to Canaan fir, blue spruce and Norway spruce, mostly five to nine feet tall; Fraser fir turns up on the pre-cut racks in the barn, and there are live balled trees for anyone who wants to plant one afterward.
They hand you a saw, a sled and twine at the start, and shaking, baling and drilling are already in the price on the tag. The rest of the afternoon is a tractor-drawn hay wagon, a fire pit with s'mores, hot chocolate and kettle corn, and a barn full of wreaths and greenery. In past years the gate has opened the day after Thanksgiving and stayed open until the fields sell out — 9 to 5:30 weekends, noon to 5:30 weekdays, closed Mondays. Dogs stay home.
The facts
- Cut-your-own Canaan firs and Blue spruces; pre-cut too
- Sat–Sun 9–5:30, weekdays noon–5:30, closed Mondays, and the farm runs until the trees are gone. Saw, sled and twine are theirs; shaking, baling and drilling are already in the price on the tag. The Norway spruce field opens later than the rest, and dogs have to stay home.
- Also at the farm: hay wagon rides, bonfire with s'mores, hot chocolate & kettle corn
