Bauman's is the all-day farm stop of the mid-valley, out on Howell Prairie Road in Gervais a few minutes north of Salem. The bakery, the garden center and the farm market all keep running through December, so the tree is usually only half the reason a family drives out.
Trees are priced flat regardless of height — one price for Douglas fir, another for noble and the specialty firs — and you can cut your own or take one already cut. The other half of the trip is the wreath bench, where they build wreaths and centerpieces out of local greens with dried fruit, winter berries and dried flowers worked in, and ship them anywhere in the country.
