Purinton Family Tree Farm

Huntington, Vermont · Chittenden County

Call ahead unconfirmed for 2026

We couldn’t confirm this farm’s 2026 season — call before you drive.

Purinton is the tree trip a lot of Burlington families have made for decades — half an hour southeast of Burlington, up in the Huntington hills, where the Purintons have been selling maple syrup and Christmas trees for more than forty years. The trees are balsam fir, mostly up to about seven feet, and last season every one of them was $70 with the tax already in.

Park along the road, take a hand saw and a sled, and walk out into the field; nothing is tagged ahead of time here, so the tree you pick is the tree you cut that day. Chainsaws stay home and dogs come on a leash. When you get back they'll shake the tree out and bale it, and on weekends there's hot cocoa, doughnuts and maple treats from the family's sugaring side of the farm.
