Urquhart's Tree Farm
Chelsea, Michigan · Washtenaw County
Opens Nov 27 usual opening — confirm for 2026
Usually opens the Friday after Thanksgiving (Nov 27) — the farm hasn’t posted its 2026 dates yet, so confirm before you drive.
Urquhart's has run the same tradition seven miles west of Ann Arbor for more than thirty years. Saws and hauling carts are handed out at the gate, a free hay wagon shuttles you to whichever block of trees you want to walk, and the crew shakes and bales your tree before it goes on the roof — that part is included in the price.
The heated gift shop inside the historic red barn is where most families end up: handmade wreaths and ornaments, cedar roping, and a stand selling hot and cold drinks. U-cut trees are one flat price at seven feet and under, then priced by the foot above that; pre-cut trees are marked individually.
There are two places to go. The main farm on Jerusalem Road has all of it. The satellite field on Jackson Road is a few minutes away, opens earlier, and is the one to pick on a busy Saturday.
